MX-5 Icon

On 1st June 2000 I became the proud owner of an MX-5 Icon (also known in the US as the Miata 2000 Special Edition). I have some photos in my gallery.

I had air conditioning and an alarm fitted by the garage. I eventually fitted my empeg in-car MP3 player myself. I originally put the amplifier in the driver's side boot-tunnel, but I had terrible alternator whine. Moving the amplifier in to the glove compartment so I could use better earthing paths helped to reduce the whine, but it still hasn't completely gone.

I have a wiring diagram allegedly for the Mazda MX-5 made in 2000, but it doesn't quite match. Perhaps the difference is that I have the UK (right-hand drive) model.
